USING APOSTROPHES (')

Theory:

Apostrophes have two principal uses - showing possession, and showing missing letters:
- This is DAVID's book. (possession.)
- I'm not happy.(showing that I'M is missing an A from I AM.)

If a word ends in S, the apostrophes is used differently:
- This is Louis' book. (possession is shown by ' and not 's)

With the words IT'S and ITS, the apostrophe means a missing letter and not possession:
- IT'S Sunday. (IT'S = IT IS)
- ITS mine. (possession)
