3 Rhymes

Theory:

A rhyme is a little poem or a song, which in this context is used to help children remember their rules for spelling.

I before E except after C when the sound says EE.

So, is it BELIEVE or BELEIVE?

The rhyme says it's BELIEVE.

Is it RECEIPT or RECIEPT?

The rhyme says it's RECEIPT.

When 2 vowels go walking, the first one does the talking and says its own name. eg. boat.

Q and U stick like glue.

Because Q is never seen without a U, as in QUEEN

A magic E at the end of a word can tell the vowel to say its own name.

So, HATE sounds like NAME and not HAT because of the silent E.

WHEN has a hen

When the ING comes to play, the E runs away.

So, MAKE becomes MAKING.

forty is naughty.
